Introduction of Aligarh
Aligarh: Aligarh is 82 km from Agra, 135 km from Delhi, 292 km from Kanpur and 174 km from Berili. Aligarh is famous for its Muslim University. Sir Syed Ahmed had established a school to inspire Muslim students to gain knowledge in western education. Gradually this school developed into a full fledged university which is housed in a huge compound. There are numerous faculties and each faculty has a Seperate building which have been built in the Mughal style. The Koil of the ancient days had been named Aligarh in 1776 meaning a High Fort. 3 km to the north of the city is the fort constructed in the year 1194 and reformed later in the modern style in 1524. After the death of Aurangzeb, due to constant fights between the Afghans, Jats, Marathas and the Rohelas there was no proper ruler in Aligarh at one stretch. It came under British control in 1803.
